Your monthly fee is made up of a service fee and a device fee.

For the month in which you joined, your service fee will be prorated, and your device fee will be charged in full. However, you will never pay more than 24 instalments on your device.

Cellular operators charge your subscription fee one month in advance, so on your first invoice, you will be charged for the month in which you joined, plus the charges for the month ahead. You will therefore see two device fees and two service fees, of which one is prorated, on your first invoice.
